Donostia-San Sebastián
San Sebastian is a small city but it hides a good handful of corners that you should not miss:
La Concha is the jewel of San Sebastian par excellence and one of the greatest emblems of Donostia / San Sebastian, is the incomparable setting. Located in front of Santa Clara Island, La Concha beach fills the magazines and newspapers and has been selected as the number one beach in Europe and in Spain.
Treasures of the old town:
Walls, cannons and fortresses keep the most precious treasures of San Sebastian: pintxos! Enjoy going down to the
port and stroll through the Old Town enjoying its famous pintxos, miniature culinary delights, and markets such as La Bretxa Market.
Discovering the architecture:
To explore the architectural treasures of the city, the tour starts at the sea and follows the course of the Urumea River and its magnificent bridges.
From the first bridge, the Zurriola Bridge, you can see the modern Moneo cubes of the Kursaal (simulating two rocks stranded on the sand) on one side and the impressive complex with a typical Belle Epoque design on the other, formed by the Victoria Eugenia Theater and the five-star Hotel Maria Cristina.
Zarautz
Take a dip in the longest beach in the Basque Country and enjoy the pintxos in the bars and the atmosphere. Walk among ‘txakoli’ vineyards with a unique view of the sea, then sit at the table to taste the local products and, finally, go shopping in original and well-kept stores.
Getaria
Popular fishing village that does not go unnoticed for its rich historical heritage (whose jewel is the Church of San Salvador) and the curious silhouette of Mount San Antón, better known as “Ratón de Getaria“. It was also the birthplace of illustrious personalities such as the navigator Juan Sebastian Elkano and the couturier Cristóbal Balenciaga. In its narrow streets and port you can taste the best grilled fish accompanied by the wine called “Txakoli“.
Hondarribia
Hondarribia is one of the most charming villages in the Basque Country. Its well-preserved old town, relaxed maritime atmosphere and good food are just some of the reasons that make Hondarribia one of our favorite places.
Hondarribia (Fuenterrabía) is a colorful fishing village rich in both architecture and gastronomy. A real pleasure, both for the eyes and for the stomach.
In addition to its impressive gastronomic offer, Hondarribia has a very well preserved Old Town, surrounded by a medieval wall, the only one in the province of Guipúzcoa. Its labyrinth of narrow cobblestone streets and the great Castle of Charles V take the visitor on a walk through the Middle Ages.
Apart from the Old Town, Hondarribia has another area no less emblematic than the previous one, it is the neighborhood of the Marina. It is here where most of the bars and restaurants that have made the town famous are located. The main street that runs the length of the neighborhood is pedestrianized, lined with trees and lined with beautiful houses and establishments where you can eat or taste the famous pintxos typical of the area.
Do not forget that Hondarribia is a coastal town and as such, you can enjoy its beautiful beach, which extends 800 m, offering sand and calm waters to both locals and tourists.
Chillida Leku
Chillida Leku is a unique museum, itself made as a great work of art. In it, the fusion between art and nature occurs in a natural way. The sculptures are integrated into the landscape as if they had always been part of it. In the garden, beech, oak and magnolia trees coexist with the monumental steel and granite sculptures placed in perfect dialogue with the environment.
Santa Barbara
From there you can appreciate excellent landscapes, both of Hernani and its surroundings as well as Jaizkibel and the sea. Of the fort, only half-ruined remains of its walls remain. In the shelter of its walls is a building that has a small bar and stone tables prepared for the enjoyment of the natural environment.
